Supporting Your Quartz Supply in a Changing Trade Landscape

The global quartz surface market is entering a period of adjustment as new trade measures are being evaluated in the United States.

In April 2026, the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) determined that quartz surface products are being imported in quantities that “constitute a substantial cause of serious injury” to domestic producers, advancing a global safeguard investigation that may lead to tariffs, quotas, or other import restrictions.

Hyundai L&C USAAs the investigation progresses, the market is expected to face increased pricing pressure and greater uncertainty in global sourcing. Potential restrictions on imports may also tighten supply availability across the value chain, making supply chain stability a growing priority for industry stakeholders.

Why Manufacturing Location Matters

As trade policy becomes a more significant variable, manufacturing location is no longer just an operational detail. Quartz sourced from overseas markets may be exposed to changing tariff structures, longer transit times, price volatility, and increased logistics variability. These factors can introduce risk into procurement planning, particularly in a market shaped by regulatory uncertainty.

A North American Advantage

HanStone Quartz is manufactured in London, Ontario, Canada, positioning it within the North American trade framework.

Under the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA), quartz products manufactured in Canada can qualify for duty-free movement into the United States. In addition, findings from the current USITC investigation indicate that imports from Canada are not a primary driver of injury to domestic producers, reinforcing a differentiated position in the market.

As a result, quartz produced in North America may be less exposed to the types of trade risks currently under review, providing a more stable foundation for supply.

Supply chains built on global sourcing can be affected by fluctuations in freight costs, port congestion, and policy-driven disruptions. As safeguard measures evolve, these variables may become more pronounced.

By contrast, regional manufacturing enables a more predictable supply structure. With production based in North America, HanStone Quartz is positioned to maintain continuity in supply even as external trade conditions shift.

In addition to supplying stability, consistency in product quality remains essential. HanStone Quartz is produced using advanced Breton technology under controlled manufacturing conditions, supporting reliable color consistency, durability, and fabrication performance.

In a market where variability can impact both timelines and outcomes, consistency becomes a critical advantage.

The ongoing safeguard investigation reflects a broader shift within the quartz industry toward regional manufacturing and supply chain resilience.

With manufacturing based in Canada and alignment with North American trade frameworks, HanStone Quartz is positioned to provide a dependable supply in a changing market.
